1. Coverage where you live, work and travel
Check the operator’s coverage map for your address, not just your city. Lyca says it runs on Vodafone’s 4G and 5G network in Australia.
2. Data allowance and what happens to unused data
Look at how much data you get each period, whether it drops after promotional renewals (several plans here do), and whether unused data rolls over and under what conditions.
3. Calls to other countries
If you call family overseas, check which countries are included. Lyca lists calls to 35 countries on most of the plans below and to 59 countries on LycaPlan L; the country list is on each plan page.
4. How long the plan lasts and whether it renews
Most plans here run for 28 days and renew automatically. The long term plans are paid up front for 180 or 360 days and renew at the end of that period, so read the auto-renewal terms before you buy.
5. How you activate and recharge
Lyca says you can activate, recharge and manage your account online, with an eSIM or a physical SIM. An eSIM suits people who need to get online straight away.
6. Price now and price later
Promotional prices apply to new online purchases and can end. Compare what you pay at the start with what you pay later, and note the date an offer ends.

Which network does Lyca use in Australia?
Lyca says it runs on Vodafone’s 4G and 5G network and quotes coverage of 98.4% of the population (Lyca’s figure, read on 22 October 2026). Lyca also notes that 5G is available in selected areas on a compatible device, with speeds capped at 100Mbps. Check the coverage map for your address.
Can I keep my number?
Lyca says you can transfer your number online. If you are moving from a prepaid plan, have your date of birth registered with your current network ready; from a postpaid plan, you need your account number.
eSIM or physical SIM?
Lyca says an eSIM is available on its plans at no extra cost and activates after you scan a QR code, and that a physical SIM is also available.
Is there a contract?
Lyca describes its plans as prepaid, with no credit check and no surprise bills. They renew automatically (every 28 days, or at the end of a 180 or 360 day long term plan), and the long term and 12-renewal plans are paid in one go, so read each plan’s terms on Lyca’s page. Where a plan has a promotional price or bonus data for a number of renewals, the later price or data is shown in the table.
What is not included?
Lyca’s plan pages note that MMS is not included and is charged separately, that calls to 1300 and 1800 numbers are included, and that plans are for personal use in Australia.
What happens to unused data?
Lyca says unused data rolls over, up to 500GB on eligible plans, if you recharge with the same or a higher-value plan before your expiry date or within a 48-hour grace period.
How current are the prices?
